Brother Vellies was founded with the goal of introducing the rest of the world to traditional African footwear, while also creating and sustaining artisanal jobs within Africa. The brand creates boots, shoes, sandals, and bags in styles that maintain the spirit and durability of their ancestral counterparts. Each pair of shoes, handmade with care by local artisans in South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Morocco. Toronto-born Creative Director, former model, and founder Aurora James travels throughout Africa every few months to work with local artisans. She seeks to experience the continent’s diverse cultures and to discover new inspirations for the brand.
