Necessity is truly the mother of invention. What exists today exists because one person decided to create out of what they saw lacking in the world. It is an act of courageous creativity to look around you, see what is missing, and to create out of that impulse. Amber Tolliver is one such individual.
A veteran model turned fashion designer, Amber is the founder of Liberté, a size-inclusive lingerie brand that strives to inspire confidence by elevating everyday essentials to provide comfort and support. Liberté’s size-inclusive line ranges from 32C-38H. Amber designs in New York and her work is featured in Glamour Magazine and Refinery29.

I’ll never forget the day I met Amber in New York through a mutual friend at a focus group for female entrepreneurs. Amber’s intelligence and frankness is incredibly moving. She spoke about the lingerie industry and its ripeness for disruption; size-inclusive lingerie is still a rather small conversation. It was no surprise to hear her explain that the seed which ultimately grew into Liberté was planted somewhere between her transition from being a straight-size model to a curve model.
However, while modeling lingerie as a curve model Amber takes notice of the disparity between what was available for “standard sizes” and anything over a D cup. Fed up with the limited options, Amber set out to create lingerie that liberates. She feels it is time that women are freed from the rigmarole of ill-fitting t-shirt bras and matronly styles. Moreover, it is quite apropos that she brands her line, Liberté, meaning freedom in French.
Women should not have to settle for restrictive, ugly, and ill-fitting bras for the sake of support. Similarly, Liberté is a brand that understands women’s bodies because it’s unique design is for women by a woman. However, Liberté is also a black-owned brand and we invite you during this #MovementforBlackLives to shop Liberté’s collection of size-inclusive bras and panties in support of black businesses.
We highly recommend The Crosby Demi Bra because it’s the essential “everyday” bra made with a super comfortable, moisture-wicking, and anti-microbial micro-jersey. Perfect for those hot summer days or that long work commute. I’m personally wearing The Crosby and it cannot be overstated that it is the most comfortable bra I’ve worn. Thank you, Amber.
