Susanne Langmuir, Canadian beauty pioneer decided it was time to create a lipstick that was food-based. First of all, what you put on your lips, you also ingest, right? Therefore, in 2011, Bite Beauty was created and in 2013 she opened Beauty Bite Lip Labs where women can custom-create their lipstick on the spot! We just love that Bite Beauty Lab takes you behind-the-scenes of their brands with this custom-curated experience and product. If you’re in or near NYC, L.A., San Francisco, or Toronto you should pay a visit. Finally, forget trying to determine what your ideal shade of red is, just make your own at Bite Beauty Lab.
Food: Chef Eric Adjepong x Territory Meal
Local D.C. Chef Eric Adjepong quickly emerged as our favorite to win season 16 of Top Chef. (Note: We are huge Top Chef fans at The Storied Life). Despite his elimination, it is exciting to hear that Chef Eric Adjepong has partnered with Territory Foods to bring culinary-style food directly into our home. Territory Foods is a meal delivery service that works with independent chefs, local to the cities where it delivers.
As a result of working with local nutritional advisers to create rotating menus, this meal delivery service places a heavy emphasis on delivering wholesome meals that are REAL Certified. For example, each meal contains hormone-free meat, zero antibiotics, and was made from animals that are raised without cages and with room to roam. Even more, you can be assured that every meal is fresh, local and organic whenever possible, less the gluten, dairy, and nitrates.
Being from a Caribbean-American family, likewise, we love that Territory’s meals cater to the international palate, so Chef Eric’s West African-cuisine is the perfect fit. Hence, we are currently eating his Ghanaian-Style Chicken with Jollof Rice meal for our Sunday night dinners! Get $50 off your first meal here.
Culture: 1st Annual Hirshhorn Ball: SURealness
Taking its cues from The Met, the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum is hosting its 1st Annual Ball. The theme centers on celebrating the radical artists of the Surrealism movement, like Salvadore Dali who brought self-expression to a new level. Likewise, self-expression and the emphasis on the striking bizarreness were inspirations. Especially to, famous essayist Susan Sontag, whose essay “Notes on Camp,’ was the inspiration for this year’s Met Gala.
Similarly, you can have your own Met Gala moment on June 15th at the Hirshhorn Ball. Raise a glass to fashion, authenticity, and self-expression. Expect the unexpected with interactive pop-up performances, witness live paintings by performance artists. Furthermore, this party for a cause continues the Hirshhorn’s on-going efforts to bring contemporary art to the National Mall. Get tickets here.
